Message from the Dean

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has a prominent history in the field of education, strives to empower every student with knowledge, skills, and attitudes to reach their potential. We draw on our progressive heritage to promote theoretically inventive scholarship that has the potential to transform how we engage with one another as human beings in contexts ranging from the local to the global.

The year 2022 witnesses the augmentation of our degree programmes. The curriculum, which has been continuously revised in compliance with the national demands and periodical global requirements, is further enriched by a package of specialization electives to ensure interdisciplinary nomenclature of humanities and social sciences. Our vibrant research culture caters opportunities for our postgraduate candidates to be involved in cutting edge research and work with world experts in their field. The wide-ranging expertise at the Faculty means we can accommodate many research interests and thesis proposals, including innovative interdisciplinary work that links to our strategic research themes.

The coursework programmes with target-oriented courses are designed with the new approaches and technologies in the modern-day to facilitate the current global and local trends and to cater to the targeted clientele. Close collaboration with the industry representing both government and private sector ensures that our teaching, research, and national development efforts are more practical and targeted.

The Faculty along with the highly qualified and dedicated academic staff are geared toward imparting values, expanding the boundaries of knowledge as well as developing skills required to enhance the prospects of graduates for future employment. Most prominently, untiring efforts have been made to enhance the soft skills of students in the Faculty thus enabling them to excel in their academic as well as professional arenas. It is worth mentioning that student learning has further been accelerated with the introduction to digital humanity courses along with the research skills and industrial training. These uplifts strengthen the employability skills of graduates fostering and promoting synergies between all stakeholders; academics, alumni, and society.

The Faculty takes great pride in its capacity as a distinguished forward-looking and influential institution steeped in tradition and committed to academic excellence. As of today, the Faculty continues to reach outwards, welcoming students and scholars who have the desire and ability to learn and produce new insights that shift and deepen our understanding of the world around us.
